How to Choose the Best DJ Turntable Bags & Cases
Types of Cases
There are several types of protective solutions for DJ turntables. Soft bags offer flexibility and are generally more affordable, often featuring multiple pockets for accessories. Hard cases, typically made of plastic or metal, provide superior impact protection and are ideal for frequent travel. Hybrid cases blend the features of both, offering a balance of protection and portability. Some specialized flight cases are built with maximum durability for professional touring use.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the main difference between a soft bag and a hard case for turntables?
Soft bags are generally lighter, more flexible, and offer basic protection against dust and minor bumps. Hard cases provide superior impact resistance, making them ideal for frequent travel and protecting against significant drops or crushing.
How do I ensure the case will fit my turntable?
Always measure your turntable's dimensions (length, width, height) and compare them to the internal dimensions of the case. Many manufacturers provide specific model compatibility lists for their cases.
Are water-resistant cases necessary?
Water-resistant cases are highly recommended if you frequently transport your equipment outdoors or in environments where spills are possible. They offer an extra layer of protection against moisture damage.
Can I store other DJ equipment in the same case?
Many cases come with additional compartments designed for accessories like needles, cartridges, cables, and slipmats. However, avoid overcrowding, as this can compromise the protection for your turntable.
How important is interior padding?
Interior padding is extremely important as it absorbs shocks and vibrations during transport. Look for dense foam or soft, non-abrasive lining to prevent scratches and damage to your turntable's finish.
