How to Choose the Best PlayStation Vita Hand Grips
Grip Material and Comfort
Consider what material the grip is made from. Silicone grips offer a soft, flexible feel and good grip, while harder plastic grips can provide a more rigid structure. Some grips feature textured surfaces or ergonomic contours designed to fit your hands more naturally, reducing fatigue during extended play. Think about how the grip feels in your hands and whether it complements your natural playing style.
Ease of Installation and Removal
Look for grips that are easy to attach and detach from your PlayStation Vita. Some grips slide on, while others might use a snap-on mechanism. The best grips should secure the console firmly without scratching it and allow for quick removal if needed, such as for charging or swapping memory cards. Ensure the grip doesn't obstruct access to any essential buttons, ports, or the charging cable.
Added Features and Design
Beyond basic comfort, some grips offer additional benefits. This can include built-in stands for tabletop mode, extra button extensions for improved reach, or even integrated battery packs for extended playtime. Evaluate whether these extra features align with your gaming habits and add genuine value to your handheld experience. The overall design should also complement the Vita's aesthetic if that's a consideration for you.
Frequently Asked Questions
Will a hand grip make the Vita bulkier?
Most hand grips are designed to add minimal bulk while improving ergonomics. They generally aim to provide a more comfortable shape for holding the console rather than significantly increasing its size. Some designs might add a slight increase in width or depth to accommodate the ergonomic contours.
Can I still charge my Vita with a grip attached?
This depends on the specific grip design. Most quality grips will have cutouts or openings that allow access to the charging port. Always check the product description or reviews to confirm that charging is possible without removing the grip.
Are hand grips difficult to put on and take off?
Generally, hand grips are designed for easy installation and removal. Many slide on and off the console smoothly. Some might have a snap-fit design that requires a little more force but still shouldn't be overly difficult.
Do hand grips affect button accessibility?
Well-designed grips ensure that all essential buttons, triggers, and analog sticks remain fully accessible. They are shaped to complement the Vita's layout, not obstruct it. However, it's always wise to check reviews or product images to ensure no crucial controls are covered.
