How to Choose the Best Sports Fan Throw Blankets
Material and Comfort
The primary consideration for a sports fan throw blanket often revolves around its material, which directly impacts comfort and warmth. Sherpa fleece, as seen in FOCO's NFL team blankets, typically offers a thicker, more luxurious feel, characterized by a soft, textured surface. This material is often preferred for cooler environments or when a plush, cozy experience is desired. In contrast, flannel fabric, exemplified by the JAWO Sports Fan Fleece Throw Blanket, tends to be lighter weight yet still provides substantial warmth and a smooth, soft touch. Enjoyyjl's offerings highlight "Premium Plush Fleece Material," suggesting a focus on ultra-softness and breathability, often a midpoint between very thick Sherpa and standard flannel. Users often report that Sherpa options provide superior insulation, while flannel and plush fleece may offer more versatility for year-round use.
Design and Team Representation
The visual design is a critical aspect, distinguishing between general sports enthusiasm and specific team loyalty. Blankets like the FOCO Dallas Cowboys NFL Team Property Of Sherpa Fleece Blanket feature explicit team branding, including bold logos and team names, often with unique phrases like "PROPERTY OF." This type of design is intended for dedicated fans of a particular franchise. On the other hand, the JAWO Sports Fan Fleece Throw Blanket presents a more generalized sports theme, incorporating elements from basketball, baseball, football, and soccer without specific team affiliations. This broad appeal makes it suitable for multi-sport households or individuals who enjoy sports in general. Enjoyyjl's "Football Blanket Gifts" falls in between, focusing on the sport of football but allowing for broader team color representation rather than specific licensed logos.
Size and Versatility
The dimensions of a sports fan throw blanket dictate its utility across different scenarios. Standard sizes often fall around 50"x60" or 60"x70", as observed with the JAWO and FOCO blankets, respectively. These dimensions are typically adequate for individual use on a sofa, as an accent piece, or for personal warmth during a game. However, some brands like Enjoyyjl offer "Multiple Sizes Available," ranging from 30"x40" up to 60"x80". The smaller sizes are commonly cited as suitable for children or even pets, while the larger 60"x80" provides more extensive coverage, potentially for two people or as a bed accent. The chosen size should align with the primary intended use, whether it's a personal lap blanket, a decorative throw, or for shared comfort during a family viewing party.

Common Mistakes to Avoid
Overlooking Material Type for Intended Use
A frequent error involves selecting a blanket without fully considering the material's properties for the desired application. For instance, opting for a FOCO Sherpa fleece blanket (like the Dallas Cowboys or Pittsburgh Steelers versions) primarily for a warm climate might lead to discomfort due to its insulating capabilities. Conversely, a lighter flannel option, such as the JAWO Sports Fan Fleece Throw Blanket, might not provide sufficient warmth during colder outdoor events or for individuals seeking maximum coziness.
Misjudging Blanket Dimensions for Coverage Needs
Users sometimes fail to accurately assess the blanket's size against their intended use. A blanket measuring 60" W x 70" L, typical of FOCO's NFL offerings, provides ample personal coverage. However, if a larger blanket is needed for shared use or to fully drape over a bed, a product like Enjoyyjl's Football Blanket, which offers a 60"x80" option, would be more appropriate. Conversely, purchasing a 30"x40" blanket, available from Enjoyyjl, with the expectation of full adult coverage will likely result in disappointment, as this size is typically suited for pets or very small children.
Assuming Universal Team Branding
It is a common misconception that all 'sports fan' blankets feature specific, licensed team logos. While FOCO products prominently display NFL team logos and names, blankets like the JAWO Sports Fan Fleece Throw Blanket offer generic sports designs without specific team affiliations. Similarly, the Enjoyyjl Football Blanket focuses on football themes and team colors but does not carry official league or team branding. This distinction is crucial for fans whose primary goal is to display allegiance to a particular professional or collegiate team.
