How to Choose the Best Swimming Pool Volleyball Toys
Material and Construction
The longevity and performance of a swimming pool volleyball set are heavily influenced by its material. Typically, these toys are constructed from PVC, but the thickness and grade of the material can vary significantly. For instance, JOYIN highlights its use of 'Premium Quality Raft Material,' which generally suggests a more resilient and puncture-resistant build compared to standard inflatables. Similarly, JoyCat emphasizes 'Heavy-Duty PVC Construction,' indicating a thicker, more durable material designed to withstand rigorous play and outdoor elements. In practice, a higher-grade material reduces the likelihood of leaks and extends the product's lifespan, making it a crucial consideration for frequent use.
Size and Anchoring
The playing experience is greatly affected by the net's dimensions and its stability in the water. Pool sizes vary, and a net's length should ideally complement the available space. For example, JoyCat offers an '125-Inch Oversized Pool Volleyball Net,' which is notably larger than the 94-inch dimensions found in some Intex models, catering to wider pools or more expansive play. Equally important are the anchoring mechanisms. Users report that inflatable poles can drift without proper weighting. Products like the Intex 56508EP and B01DKOR06E feature grommets on the pole bases, allowing users to attach anchor weights. JOYIN explicitly includes '2 Weight Bags' for its inflatable court, providing an immediate solution for stability, which is often a key differentiator in user satisfaction.
Included Accessories and Versatility
Beyond the basic net and ball, some swimming pool volleyball sets offer additional features that enhance play and value. The main difference is often whether the product is a dedicated volleyball set or a multi-game package. For instance, the Botabee product is specifically a 'Water Volleyball with Soft Cover,' focusing solely on the ball itself rather than a full net system. In contrast, the JOYIN Inflatable Pool Float Set is a 'SUPER VALUE' bundle, including not only a volleyball court but also 'Basketball Hoops,' significantly expanding the range of activities possible with a single purchase. This versatility can be a deciding factor for families or those hosting pool parties, offering varied entertainment options.
Ease of Setup and Storage
The convenience of setting up and storing a pool volleyball game directly impacts how often it will be used. Most sets are inflatable, meaning they require inflation before use and deflation for storage. Products like the Intex 56508EP are designed with 'Inflatable poles are easy to deflate and store,' suggesting user-friendly valves and material flexibility. JoyCat also highlights 'Quick Setup,' indicating an efficient inflation process. In practice, sets that are cumbersome to inflate or take up excessive storage space when deflated tend to see less use. Considerations include the number of separate inflatable chambers and the overall packed size, particularly for those with limited storage.

Common Mistakes to Avoid
Underestimating Net Size for Pool Dimensions
A common oversight is failing to match the net's length to the pool's width. Users often find that a net like JoyCat's '125-Inch Oversized Pool Volleyball Net' might be too long for a smaller backyard pool, leading to a cramped play area or difficulty in setup. Conversely, a standard 94-inch Intex net might feel too short in a very wide inground pool, diminishing the competitive feel.
Neglecting Anchoring Mechanisms
Many inflatable sets, including the Intex 56508EP and B01DKOR06E, feature grommets for attaching weights, but these weights are typically not included. Assuming the net will stay in place without them is a mistake; users report significant drifting during active play. Products like the JOYIN set, which explicitly includes '2 Weight Bags,' address this proactively, highlighting its importance.
Overlooking Material Durability
Assuming all inflatable pool toys are equally robust can lead to disappointment. The material quality directly impacts the product's lifespan. While some products simply state 'inflatable,' others, like JOYIN's 'Premium Quality Raft Material' or JoyCat's 'Heavy-Duty PVC Construction,' indicate a higher standard designed for 'long lasting and leak proof usage.' Opting for a cheaper, less robust material often results in punctures and shorter product utility.
Not Checking Included Accessories
Another mistake is assuming a 'set' includes everything needed for play. For example, the Botabee product is specifically a 'Water Volleyball with Soft Cover,' meaning it's just the ball and not a net system. Even full net sets might not include a pump or the necessary anchor weights, which can delay or prevent immediate use upon arrival. Always verify the complete list of included items.
