How to Choose the Best Ticket Rolls
Comparison Tips
When comparing different ticket rolls, focus on the core diameter and overall roll dimensions to ensure they fit your equipment. Examine the paper quality for thickness and smoothness, which can affect print clarity and durability. Check for features like perforations or pre-numbering if these are important for your workflow. Finally, consider the quantity per pack or case to determine the most cost-effective option for your anticipated needs.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between thermal and plain paper ticket rolls?
Thermal paper ticket rolls react to heat from a thermal printer, producing dark images without ink. Plain paper rolls require an impact printer that uses ink ribbons to transfer an image onto the paper.
How do I know which size ticket roll to buy?
Check your printer's manual or specifications for the exact width, diameter, and core size it supports. Using the wrong size can lead to jamming or printing errors.
Are all ticket rolls perforated?
No, not all ticket rolls come with perforations. Some rolls are solid, while others have pre-scored lines for easy tearing. This feature is often a matter of preference or operational need.
Can I use any paper roll in a receipt printer?
Generally, receipt printers use specific types of paper rolls, often thermal. It's essential to confirm your receipt printer's compatibility with the paper roll type and size to ensure proper functioning.
How should I store unused ticket rolls?
Store ticket rolls in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. This helps prevent the paper from degrading or the print from fading prematurely.
What does 'core size' refer to on a ticket roll?
The core size refers to the diameter of the cardboard tube in the center of the roll. This must match the spindle or holder in your printer or dispenser for the roll to fit correctly.
