How to Choose the Best TurboGrafx 16 Accessories
Essential Accessories for TurboGrafx-16 Owners
To enhance your TurboGrafx-16 experience, several accessories are worth considering. These can range from essential components for system operation to peripherals that expand its capabilities.
Controllers and Input Devices
The standard TurboGrafx-16 controller is functional, but many gamers prefer alternatives for certain genres. Look for controllers that offer improved ergonomics or additional buttons, especially for action-heavy titles. Some third-party controllers also provide compatibility with other systems, offering versatility. Ensure any controller you consider is specifically designed for or confirmed to be compatible with the TurboGrafx-16.
Video and Audio Output Solutions
Connecting your TurboGrafx-16 to modern displays can be a challenge. Original RF adapters are often incompatible with current televisions. Consider specialized adapters or cables that convert the console's output to HDMI or composite video, providing a clearer picture and easier setup. These solutions can significantly improve the visual quality on contemporary screens.
Storage and Expansion Options
The TurboGrafx-16 utilizes HuCards for its game library. While storage isn't a primary concern in the traditional sense, consider accessories that manage your HuCard collection. Some enthusiasts also look for ways to expand the console's capabilities, though such options are less common and often require specialized knowledge.
Maintenance and Protection
Given the age of the TurboGrafx-16, maintenance and protection are key. Cleaning kits designed for retro consoles can help maintain the integrity of the system and its game cards. Protective cases or storage solutions can prevent dust and damage, ensuring your console remains in good working order.
